Genetics are not so scary
* This Page contains my opinion and knowledge of rabbit genetics that I have learned from both my bunny friends and online from a breeder who no longer breeds and has dismantled her website with so much information that seems to be now lost. Please keep in mind these are my accounts of what I have learned and wish to share*
So now you have several different colors of Netherland dwarfs, all of them so pretty and nice, but are the colors compatible? I have my own thoughts on what is compatible with what and what rules I try to stay close to. Really it will surprise you about the different colors that work well together and some not so great. Well here are the colors from group 1- selfs to group 5- AOV. All Photos will be of My netherland dwarfs unless otherwise stated.

Group 1 - Self
Blue Eyed White or BEW
IN NEED A GOOD PHOTO PLEASE!
Genotype ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? vv
BEWs should have a white surface and under color with no yellow tones. The eye should be a bright vibrant blue with no ruby cast.
Possible breeding combinations: mix with selfs, otters, and agouti that do not carry chocolate, siamese sable, chinchilla Himalayan, or REW. Breed out for type only! Breeding to these will result in Vienna Marked (VM) and Vienna Carriers (VC) unless the other is a VM or VC
Not recommended to breed to: Anything that is or carries Chocolate siamese sable, himi, Chinchilla or REW .
BEW acts like a throw blanket over your sofa, the throw blanket covers up the "color" underneath. The BEW may be a self black, chestnut or black otter or any other color combination but shows as a BEW.
This is a color I love but can't have because most of my herd is chocolate or chocolate carriers.
